Mrs. Jeanie Hills, 93, of Killeen Texas left to join Our Heavenly Father on December 8th at Advent Health Hospital in Killeen. Her loving son and caregiver, James, was by her side.
She was born in Suwon, South Korea on March 20, 1930. She was a devoted mother and wife of an Army soldier; when they met, she was divorced and had 2 children (a son and daughter), he was US Army Staff Sergeant Arthur Hills, also divorced, with custody of his four children (a son and three daughters). They were married February 29th, 1964.
They had three children together, all boys –James, born in Niagara Falls, NY – David, born at Fort Ord, CA – and John, born in Izmir, Turkey. With 9 total children in tow, she cared for and raised them while Arthur served 2 tours of duty, along with many moves and challenges.
When Arthur retired from the Army after 30 plus years’ service in December 1978, they chose to make the Killeen area their permanent residence. She loved Bridge, Pinochle and Poker and enjoyed playing with her friends and family as often as she could. She also loved it when family visited to enjoy her wonderful food.
She is survived by five sons, Paul Dillman, Bruce, James, David and John Hills; and 2 daughters, Cindy and Patricia Hills; a dozen grandchildren and many more great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Lee Abraham of Streamwood, IL, who died of breast cancer in 1998. Daughter Jeannette Caulder, SC, who died of a Covid-related illness in 2020 and her dear husband Arthur in 2021.
She was the most important person in her husbands' world and they will now be together again. She will be missed by many, and her spirit will carry on through all of those she touched with her love.
Services will be 3pm Monday December 18th, at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. Interment will be at the Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, at 2 pm on Wednesday, December 20th.
A special thank you to all the dear friends that stayed in touch and took time out to check in on her throughout the years. There are too many to name them all.
