Ida was born July 4, 1934 in Niedermurach, Germany to the late Johann Baptist and Anna Bucherl Dirnberger. She met a soldier who was stationed in Germany and soon he became the love of her life. Ida and Hubert Frank Garrett were married on August 14, 1959 in Mainz, Gonsenheim, Germany. To this union, two children were born, son, Josef and daughter, Bianca.
Ida was an expert skier, ice skater, bicyclist, swimmer and mountain climber. She was a seamstress, a trade she learned from her mother, and made most of her children’s clothes in her earlier years. She was a dear wife, mother, grandmother and the best cook a husband, and family, could ever ask for. She was a good woman and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Frank Garrett of Harker Heights; son, Josef and his wife Jessielyn Heizon of Los Angeles, California; daughter, Bianca McBride and her husband Michael of Harker Heights; grandchildren, Jacob (17), Stephen (15), both of Los Angeles and Katharina (11) of Harker Heights; and a brother, Albert Dirnberger and his wife Brigette of Regensberg, Germany.
