Eugene C. Walker

Eugene (Gene) Walker, 88, passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 with family by his side. Gene was born in Martinsburg, West Virginia to Samuel and Elizabeth Walker on July 26,1936. The US Army brought Gene to Fort Hood, Texas in 1956. Gene and Sylvia (Skeeter) Cooper were married in Belton, Texas on March 29, 1957 after meeting at Fort Hood Skating Rink four months prior.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Liz Walker, mother- and father-in-law Bill and Annie Mae Cooper, and sister, Anna Lee Nave.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 67 years, Skeeter, and three children - Carolyn Farmer (Dennis), Judi Teel (Larry), and Monty Walker. In their 67 years of marriage, Gene and Skeeter were blessed with 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Farmer-Renegar (Chris), Casey Farmer, Rebecca Walker, Sylvia Walker, Aaron Coleman, Adam Coleman (Angelina), Austen Coleman (Amberlee), Arryanna Teel-Schildt (Brandon), Stephanie Teel-Butcher (Randy), and Melissa Teel-Shaw (Jeffrey). Additionally, they were blessed with 16 great-grandchildren, Clayton, Crisalyn, Kameron, Cayden, Paige, Lincoln, Levi, Landon, Emrey, Ian, Owen, Ava, Allee, Alex, Aria, and Aspen, one great-great granddaughter, Mia, and many nieces and nephews. Gene was also extremely fortunate to have many lifelong friends.

Gene served in the US Army, managed a car parts store, ran a used car lot, and retired from KISD.

Gene was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, and uncle. He was truly known as the Leader Of The Pack and will be missed dearly.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 2, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, 1615 South Fort Hood Road, Killeen, TX 76542. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 2:00 PM. The interment service will follow at Killeen City Cemetery, 2408 E Rancier Ave, Killeen, TX 76543.
