Dalton was born on April 1, 1947, to Robert E. and Rose A. (Landry) Craig in El Reno, Oklahoma. After Dalton graduated from Killeen High School in 1965, he went to college at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas.
After graduating with a degree in Business Administration, he returned to the Central Texas area to begin a career in the plumbing industry. After receiving his master plumbing license, he became a partner in Coryell Plumbing, Inc., and then later, became the sole proprietor of Coryell Plumbing, Inc. He proudly owned that company for 54 years.
He was also a homebuilder and was a member of the Central Texas Home Builder’s Association.
Dalton loved anything that involved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, golfer, and sports fanatic; however, one of his favorite past times was horse racing. He even owned a racehorse at one time! His son, Corey, fondly remembers growing up going to horse races every weekend. He loved reading about the jockeys, the horses, the races, and playing the odds. Even as much as he loved the outdoors and horse racing, nothing surpassed his love of being with his family, watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren playing in the pool or playing at the beach; those were his most favorite moments of all.
He was married to the love of his life, Patsy (Dark) Craig, for thirty-one amazing years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rose Craig, and his in-laws, Clyde Dark and Bertie Dark.
He is survived by his wife, his son, Corey Craig (Lea), and daughters Tammy Thornhill (David) and Missy Gonzalez; his grandchildren Grant Thornhill (Juli Ann), Paige Hughes (Brett), Jerry Betterton III, Collins Craig, and Cannon Craig. Furthemore, he is survived by his great-grandchildren Kensley Hughes, Brock Hughes, Olivia Thornhill, and Jerry Betterton IV; and one sister, Barbara J. Hagemeister and his niece Stacey Hagemeister and nephew Scott Hagemeister. Also, his brother-in-law, Clyde B. Dark and sister-in-law, Jan Dark and nieces Tiffany Piering and Dusty Machen. He also loved his fun-loving Louisiana cousins and enjoyed his trips to see them.
Dalton had many friends who were like family and loved his Killeen High School graduating class.
The pallbearers are: David Thornhill, Grant Thornhill, Brett Hughes, Grant Garner, Pat Meverden, and Alan Carpenter.
He was loved greatly and will be missed forever.
