Brenda Renee Ramos

Brenda Renee Ramos, age 60, loving mother of three, and adoring wife to husband Herman Ramos, passed away surrounded by her family in adoration and prayer to the divine mother in the evening hours of November 24th after a nearly seven-year battle with Cancer. Brenda was born March 21, 1962, from angelic mother Lucille Ramos and Alcario Baros in Killeen, Texas. Brenda grew up a military child of an infantry soldier, living from post to post alongside her siblings Ivan, Alcario, and Ceceila.

In 1977 at 15 years old Brenda a freshman attended Killeen High School where she met her high school sweetheart and heroic husband of nearly 41 years Herman. During her teenage years in the 70s she learned to be a skilled welder as well as a hair product beauty model. Brenda was recruited for her stunning beauty and gorgeous natural afro, where she was muse to now world-renowned photographers. After marriage on May 26th, 1982, Brenda settled down in her lifelong home centered in Killeen, Texas, where Herman built a strong foundation through a career with the loyal company Keg 1 O’Neil LLC.

Through their love and hard work Brenda raised three fierce children Stephanie, Rico, and Desiree. She was a Jack of all trades and worked many jobs from art teacher to prison guard, she held a 15-year career as a pharmacy technician before she went full time toward her passion and calling of horses.

Brenda’s equine legacy “Horsin Around (Recovery Ranch)” was established in the early 2000s, where it contracted with many core parts of the community and surrounding cities such as Fort Hood’s BLORA where she began her work with soldiers during spur rides. After experiencing the change in soldiers with PTSD during her contracts with Fort Hood, Brenda shifted her love of horses to develop her own special form of Equine Therapy. She developed a non-profit that specialized in children with special needs and soldiers with PTSD. Brenda’s natural love for animals and devoted faith gave her the ability to touch the hearts and souls of everyone. She never turned an injured animal nor an injured person away.

She was the neighborhood mom and dependable friend. Her love was contagious and kept her family devoted to not only her but the love of her ranch and animals as well. She reached high success in the equine community being featured in dozens of magazines, newspapers, articles, and awards. She always preached the importance of family, faith, and forgiveness. As a grandmother of ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren, she was a hero to them all turning boring into fun. She taught us all the importance of faith, family, and forgiveness. She is a saint now and I bet giving St. Francis a run for his money.

Ever the devoted daughter in Christ, she shined as though she never faced darkness. Brenda is survived by her husband, three children, ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

The following day, Wednesday Dec. 7th, a Mass at 12pm will be held at St Joseph’s Catholic Church 2903 E Rancier, Killeen, Texas
