He joined the Army and stationed at Ft Gordon in 1958, he was stationed at several ofther locations before retiring in 1976 at Ft Hood. He earned the following ribbons and Medals: Driver and Mechanic Badge, Natonal Defense Service Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal w/2 Bronze stars, Bronze Star Medal w/1 oak leaf cluster, Army Commendation Medal w/1 oak leaf cluster, Good Conduct Medal Clasp/silver & Loop, Meritorious Seervice Medal.
Mr. Lowe was a lifelong public servant. In addition to his esteemed military career, he served as a police officer at Texas A&M University, was Chief of Police for Nolanville Texas, and a state prison guard in Gatesville Texas.
He is survived by his lifelong companion Marcella “Marcy” Cearlock, his sisters Louise Lowe-Davis and Faye Onbey, his brother James “JD” Lowe, his son Billy Joe Lowe II, and his daughter Patricia R. Lowe.
He had 15 grand children: Brandon, Megan, Priscilla, Billy, Shannon, Mickinzie, Dustin, Jordan, Jayci, Gary, Ryan, Shanda, Nathan, Stevie and Boe. He had 9 great grandchildren: Hayden, Logan, Zoey, Skyla, Nathan, Kiona, Patience, and Aspen.
He loved to travel, go bowling and fishing, play poker, and spend time with his grandkids.

Visitation is Wednesday February 26th from 10am to 12pm at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen Texas.
Funeral services will be at 1:30pm on Wednesday February 26th, 2014 at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, burial with Full Military Honors will be at Central Texas State Veteran’s Cemetery.
