1955 - 2022
It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the passing of Terry at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at the age of 66, while holding hands with his wife as she sang “Autumn Leaves” to him.
Terry was born on December 4, 1955 in Kenora, Ontario. He attended Northward School and Beaver Brae Secondary School. He was active in community sports in his youth. He started working at the Ontario Minnesota Pulp and Paper Mill in 1974 until its closing in 2005 as Abitibi Consolidated. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 12 being especially active with the Darts League back in the day. He was Chairman of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Following in his parents' footsteps, Terry was an avid gardener and took pride in his yard, and enjoyed picking blueberries and mushrooms in season. He also enjoyed fishing and was happy when Kimberley Alexander came into his life in 1982 to share that passion with him.
Terry was predeceased by his parents Stephen and Freda Shamlock and his in-laws James and Bernadette Alexander.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kimberley of 27 years, his sisters Jean Shamlock and Carol (Barry) Grosset and brothers-in-law, James (Tizana) Alexander and Ian Alexander. Also surviving him are his nieces and nephews and their families: John (Anissa), Hannah and Cameron Fraser; Maurice (Leanne) Fraser; Jennifer (Raymond), Emily, Sarah, Cassandra and Nicholas Moncrief; Dan (Danielle), Gavin and Ethan Grosset; Denise (Bill), Luke, Kate and John Chmeliuk; and James, Christina, Stefania, Stuart and Kenneth Alexander. Terry also loved and adored his cats throughout all his years with Kim.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on November 7, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 200 Fifth Avenue South, Kenora with Pastor Harold Borchardt officiating. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the Lake of the Woods District Hospital would be appreciated.
“Like a long thread of love from here to you, I pray our Mansion has a view.”
- All my love, your wife.
