August 17th, 1954 – October 21st, 2023
After a lengthy battle with cancer, Joe passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on October 21st, 2023.
Joe was predeceased by his parents Frank and Phyllis Kitt (nee Creed), his brothers Ivan Kitt and Michael Kitt, sisters Sharon Sherman and Joanne Attrux and his grandson Deneil Kitt.
He leaves behind many who cherish fond memories of him, including his loving partner, Jackie; his brothers Butch Sherman, Les Kitt, Bruce Kitt, sisters Catherine Sherman and Wendy Kitt (Murney); his children Krystallyn Lamirande, Timothy Lamirande, Danielle Hintz and stepdaughter Caitlin (Matthew) Alder. He will be missed by his beloved grandchildren John (Elyse) Boucha, Jenifer Boucha (Cameron); Jamie (Bryce) Jones; Timmy Lamirande, Logan Kitt, Cole Kitt, Keera Spence, and Nolan Alder; as well as great-grandchildren Henry, Ruari, Elliot, Charley, Jackson and Josephine. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and many honorary “kids” that he embraced and welcomed into his life.
Joe was outgoing, funny, and happiest when surrounded by those he loved. To many, including the grands and greats he was affectionately known as ‘Papa Joe’. A big kid at heart, he could make anyone laugh.
He had a way of making connections with people and made many lifelong friendships over the years
working as a bartender at the Kenwood and later as a dispatcher and driver for Co-Ot Taxi.
He loved being outdoors fishing, camping, canoeing, kayaking in the summer and ice fishing in the winter. Countless hours were spent enjoying family and friends around a bonfire at any time of the year. He was very skilled with his hands and enjoyed working on the house, fixing vehicles, and tinkering with anything that needed fixing. If there was a job that he wasn’t familiar with he would “Google” it and teach himself how to do it.
As per Joe’s wishes, there will be no service. He never liked being the centre of attention. Anyone who wishes can share a memory or post a picture here or on his Facebook page.
Rest peacefully, Joey. Until we meet again. xoxo
