Alex passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 in the community of Whitedog First Nation.

He was predeceased by his grandparents Tom Boyd, Annie (Kent) Boyd, Peter Smith, Mary (Williamson) Smith, he is also predeceased by his parents Robert Boyd and Mable Smith, his siblings Jane, Robert, Loretta and Bradley Smith, uncles Gordon, Dan, Holly, Ralph and Bert Boyd, James and William Smith, cousins Rodrick Smith, Marina Smith, nieces Adrienne and Miranda Smith, his aunties, Sarah McDonald, Marie Boyd, Florence King, Molly Land, Bella and Lorraine Boyd.

He is survived by her siblings Helen Smith, Nicholas Smith and Lonny Smith, his son Clayton Land, as well as many nieces nephews, cousins, uncles, aunties too numerous to mention.

In his younger years, he was a guide at KCR camp, he planted trees and cleared bush. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, picking blueberries, harvesting rice, he enjoyed nature and walking through the bush. He loved his family, he was friendly and kind, he had a warm inviting nature and always had a big smile on his face.

A wake service for Alex will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 4:00 pm at Whitedog Community Hall. A funeral service will occur Monday, March 20, 2023 at 11:00 am at Whitedog Community Hall with burial to follow in Whitedog First Nation.
