Through her brother, Susan met Steven Delker and they immediately fell in love. In less than a year of dating, they became married on August 12, 1995. Their relationship was a beautiful love story of two adventurous people that were affectionately committed in true love. Their nearly 25 years together was a wonderful example to those around them. Shortly after they married, they briefly lived in Round Lake Beach Illinois with their two kids before moving to Stow, Ohio for the next fourteen years. There she cultivated an amazing network of lifelong friends that she cherished deeply, even after moving away. Susan and her family then found themselves settling their feet in Georgia, close to her sister. She was very proud of her work as a nurse, wearing many hats and holding many titles throughout her long and successful career. She was a compassionate caregiver, a respected clinical administrator, and a highly valued IT specialist.
Susan enjoyed kayaking, hiking and water skiing. If there was anything that had to do with the water or the outdoors, Susan loved it. She thoroughly enjoyed being in nature and loved spending time in the upper peninsula in Michigan, especially at the family vacation home of her childhood, which was her sanctuary. She found joy in serving others, creating greeting cards and playing games with family and friends. But above all of this, her two “babies”, Erika and Travis, were the center of her world, her pride and joy.
Susan’s kindness, compassion, humility, and constant sacrifice for others was a testament to her faith and devotion to her God, shown through her commitment to the Church and her extended community.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Steven; son, Travis; daughter, Erika; brothers, Jeffrey (Susan) Nordmark and Steven (Vanessa) Nordmark; sisters, Michelle (David) Piotter and Aimee Schildt; uncle Larry (Betty) Whitehead; and aunt, Sr. Vivian Whitehead OSF, as well as six godchildren and many extended family and friends.
