Ronnie Lee McGarity, age 72, of Acworth, Georgia died on Thursday, January 20, 2022. Ronnie was born October 28, 1949 in Marietta, Georgia. Ronnie will be laid to rest in Mars Hill Church Cemetery, Acworth, GA.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of 50 years, Connie E. McGarity; his son Shannon Dee McGarity; and his son Ryan Lee McGarity (Tami); his sister Irene Clackum; his granddaughters Caroline, Sara, Katie, Bayleigh, and Savannah and his great grandson Brooks. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents William and Evelyn McGarity; his brothers Eugene and JW McGarity.
A Georgia native, Ronnie was a graduate of North Cobb High School where he was he recognized for athletic abilities, especially in baseball. He was drafted out of High School by the San Diego Padres who then traded him to St. Louis where he spent some time in their minor league system. Ronnie was a Vietnam Veteran and served our country honorably in the Army. Ronnie was the Business Manager for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 926. When he was not working, Ronnie loved the outdoors, he planted a garden every season and the harvest was always plentiful. He also enjoyed the nightly feedings of his Koi fish along with the deer and birds but nothing compared to the pride he had for his family, his five granddaughters were his pride and joy.
Graveside service will be held Saturday, February 5, 2pm at Mars Hill Cemetery. Due to Covid, we are asking everyone to wear a mask.
