February 10, 2022. He was born in 1944 in New York City to the late Lewis
and Hilda Blume.
Richard is survived by his wife, Jean; his sons, Richard (Hope) Blume and
Matthew (Christine) Blume; daughters, Rene' (Jason) Blume-Meagher and
Christine (Chad) McNeel; brother, Kenneth (Celeste) Blume. One of his
greatest joys were his several grandchildren, Sarah, Hannah, Ryan, Collin,
Marissa and Brianna.
He is predeceased by his son, Brian Peterson and sister, Linda Peck.
Richard (Rick, Pop Pop) was a dedicated man, whether it be to his 29 year
career at Northrop Grumman or his time spent in the United States
Marines. The dedication he had to his family was unwavering. Everything
he did was to support and make the lives of his family better and easier.
Being a quiet man, he expressed himself through his actions and his love
was deeply felt by those around him. We all knew his actions spoke louder
than words.
If you were a part of Rick's life, there is no doubt that you were touched by
his generosity and kindness. He was always willing to bring over his tools
to fix or help build something, mow your lawn or move your furniture, often
without your knowledge. He loved being with his grandchildren, cruising
with them in his Chevy, playing together with his trains and attending their
important events.
Rick loved his pets, Coco and Indy, and his “outdoor pets”. He spent his
mornings feeding the stray cats, who found their way to his front door and
filling all the bird feeders around the house.
Rick needed to keep busy and since retiring in 2007 you could find him in
his workroom, his train room, his yard or the garage working on his 1957
Chevy. But mostly enjoying his days with Jean.
Services to celebrate Richard's life will be held on Monday February 14,
2022 at Mars Hill Presbyterian Church in Acworth, Georgia at 11:00am.
