Joe Davis Stukes, aged 78, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2024, in Marietta, Georgia. He was born on June 18, 1945, in Manning, South Carolina, to Wilson Pearson and Elizabeth Black and raised by John Henry and Emma Stukes as their own child. He graduated from Scott’s Branch High School in Clarendon County, South Carolina in 1964.
He joined the United States Air Force in 1969 serving as an Aircraft Mechanic and displayed wonderful problem-solving skills. Joe was a Veteran of the Vietnam War and worked as a Procurement Tech for the Defense Contract Management Agency until retirement. Joe was a proud resident of Marietta, Georgia and loved staying active with his hobbies such as fishing and working on cars, as well as watching golf. His family and good food were his biggest passions. Joe always looked forward to receiving food - such as sweet potatoes, okra and peas and beans - from his home state South Carolina.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Elaine Stukes; two daughters, Michelle Cameron and Danielle Stukes; two sons, Wayne Stukes and Zachary Stukes; one grandson, Justin Cameron; 9 brothers and 10 sisters between both sets of parents; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
