He was born on June 27, 1929 in Griffin, Ga. to the late Mr. Nazy Lee and Appie Ann Jenkins. He attended West Fulton High School where he played Baseball and Football. After High School he served in U. S. Army stationed in Germany with the 4th Engineering Division and was a Veteran of the Korean War. After his discharge from the U.S. Army he worked for International Paper Company in East Point, Ga., where he retired after thirty seven years of service. After his retirement he was very active in his local neighborhood civic club.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Mrs. Frankie Ernestine Jenkins and two sons James P. Jenkins and his wife Cathy of Marietta, Ga. and Gary Jenkins of Decatur, Ga. two grandchildren Linda and Patrick Jenkins and his wife Shannon, as well as many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his brother Copeland and two sisters Era Bell Turner and Jenny O’Neal.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Nelson and Clyde Jenkins and sister Doris Tapp.
Funeral services will be held at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home on Monday February 9th at 2:00 PM with Rev. Tim Childers officiating.
The family will receive friends between the hours of 12 noon until 2 PM Monday prior to the services. Interment will follow in Pine Ridge Memorial Park.
