Mr. James Winston ‘J.W.’ Chandler, age 66, of Acworth, Georgia, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018. J.W. was born on July 2, 1951 in Marietta, GA, a son of the late Marvin F. Chandler and Alma Odell Chandler.
Born and raised in Cobb County, J.W. spent his entire life dedicated to serving his community with honor. In September of 2001 he retired as a Lieutenant with the Cobb County Fire Department after thirty years of dedicated service. Following his retirement, he went to work part-time as a service runner for the Marietta Daily Journal. He was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a faithful member at Christ Community Church in Kennesaw, GA. In his spare time enjoyed building, antiquing, cheering on the Atlanta Braves, and watching old western movies. J.W. married the love of his life, Sarah Widner Chandler in July of 1972 and together the two created a beautiful life together. He maintained a steadfast love and dedication for his wife and children throughout his entire life. J.W. was a simple, kind, selfless, and very brave man; always giving more than he took and placing others far above himself. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, fireman, and friend; he will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
J.W. is survived by his wife, Sarah Chandler; three children, Chad Chandler, wife Kristin, of Acworth, Justin Chandler, wife Mary Margaret, of Acworth, and Brittany Redderoth, husband Brendan, of Roswell; one brother, Ricky Chandler, of Free Home, GA; eight grandchildren, Brooks Chandler, Caleb Chandler, Colby Chandler, Hatcher Chandler, Levi Chandler, Boone Chandler, Grayson Chandler, and Emilia Redderoth; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends also survive.
A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. J.W. Chandler will be held at eleven o’clock in the morning on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Midway Presbyterian Church in Powder Springs. Interment will follow in the Midway Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven-thirty on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw.
The Cobb County Fire Department Color Guard will be serving as pallbearers.
