Helen Rainey Steele, age 82, of Dacula, GA passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband Herman Lamar Steele to whom she was married for 51 years. Funeral service will be held Sunday, June 3, 2:30pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw with Pastor Mac Palmer officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Acworth.
Helen was born September 21, 1935 in Lake City, FL. Helen had retired from the CDC as a Statistician. She was loving mother who set Godly standards and high expectations for her children and grandchildren. Helen lovingly encouraged so many with her cards. A dedicated follower of Jesus Christ, she touched many people’s lives. She was member of Hebron Baptist Church, and was active over the years with the Noonday & Bartow Baptist Associations. Her love of the Lord led her to teach Sunday school for many local churches. Helen loved to travel and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her daughters – Terri Long of White, Mary Haldeman of Gainesville, Delores Oliver of Sandy Springs, Linda Fleischman of Lawrenceville, and Darlene Stone of Lawrenceville; sons – Norman Barfield of Acworth and Dane McDurmon of Marietta; brothers – Robert Rainey, James Rainey, Bunch Rainey, and Harold Rainey; sisters – Mary Ann Ramson and Frances Story; 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren. There are also many nieces, nephews, and friends surviving.
