To dearest Marlene,  and to ALL of dear Cyril's beloved children & Family  and many friends and fans..., my deepest condolences to you for your/our loss of beloved CYRIL BOLDEN.  I was blessed to have been able to meet and socialize with Cyril &  Marlene in their beautiful loving home in Kennesaw, GA.  Cyril was one of the kindest human beings I have ever met in my life.  He, his wife & Family extended so much kindness and warm hospitality to me and to many that I will always be grateful  & honored to have known him.  To know Cyril was to love him...with his magnetic personality, humor & great musical talent  I truly enjoyed the wonderful parties, music, friends & festivities at their  home. As Cyril  rests in Peace in GOD'S everlasting love & eternal  light, he  will be always be remembered  and forever in our hearts!!  GOD bless your precious soul, Cyril & may GOD comfort the hearts of all of us who  love and  miss you,. Islanders in our heydays. Cyril was big in heart on the soccer field and was always in the middle of every battle. He led by example and provided leadership to the team by his hard work.

To Marlene and family

My name is Hollis and I have known Cyril since I arrived in Canada from Trinidad and Tobago in 1967. We played together in the Melotones Steelband in Montréal, Canada.  

We lived close to each other so we travelled a lot together to and from practice sessions and performances. He was always a pleasure to be around and he will be greatly missed. 

Although no words can take away the sorrow that you bear, may it be a comfort to know that others care and may the Father of us all, Whose mercies never cease, sustain you all in your hour of need and grant you inner peace.

May Cyril Rest In Peace.

I was fortunate to have known Cyril and reminisce on the times I spent enjoying food, music, and laughs at the Boldon home. My heart is heavy because I wish I could be there to say a proper goodbye. Rest in peace. My condolences to Marlene, Anisah, and the rest of the family.

May God comfort your grieving hearts and grant you strength to deal with this type of hurt and peace to face the days ahead.Uncle Cyril was a wonderful soul full of happiness. Cyril was a good man and a great friend. His home was always open and welcoming to all. He was a family man first. His love of music and soccer was contagious. We all miss him greatly . I always felt welcomed to his home. Always loved to share soca music, good food and drinks

Uncle Cyril’s presence in my and my brothers’ lives will truly be missed. His friendship with our father led him to play a supportive and inspiring role in our journeys. I remember listening to David Rudder’s song ‘You Set a Fire’ on a road trip to Chicago when I was a teenager, and I remember Dad pointing out a guitar riff during the chorus of the song and saying, ‘That’s Uncle Cyril’s instrument playing right there.’ I‘ll never forget visiting Atlanta for Christmas one year and having an engrossing conversation about the history of his town of Kennesaw and the role it played in the American Civil War. And I remember all of the advice and support and praise Uncle Cyril offered me through years of Facebook friendship. 

My brothers, Osei and Sekou, have similar memories, particularly of Uncle Cyril and Auntie Marlene babysitting them as children in Trinidad. They also remember and admire the camaraderie that Dad and Uncle Cyril shared over decades of friendship.

All of these and more are memories the three of us will carry with us and cherish for the rest of our lives. Farewell and Godspeed, Uncle Cyril, until we meet again.

Sending Cyril’s family and friends my deepest sympathy. I did not know Cyril personally, but his daughter Aisha was a great friend of mine in HS. If she & her siblings are an indication of Cyril’s legacy, he has left an incredible mark on this world and personally on my life too. I hope peace and comfort in knowing that you will be reunited one day will help console you during your grief.

Dear Cyril,
Thank you for sustaining with such passion our Caribbean folk music in the San Francisco Bay Area. With Calabash and Cuatrophonics you spent  hours working out vocal harmonies and song arrangements, which we performed at numerous venues of all types. At the heart of each performance was the steady, distinctive and compelling beat of your bass guitar. You were indispensable in getting local audiences and musicians to appreciate our culture, in its many forms; and seemed equally comfortable singing in English, Spanish and Patois. Your influence showed in the quality of our performances, the resulting demand for our services, and the pride that resonated though the Caribbean community and beyond. The mark you made will endure in the cultural legacy and the memories with which you left us.

Our sincere condolences on your loss. I will always remember our fun times when we all lived in  California. Cyril certainly did his part to further Trini culture in the US with his music and musician friends. Rest in peace my friend. 


Cyril, where do I start?  Friend, teacher, instructor, brother, performer, sportsman, should I go on?  

He represented all of the above and more.

I watched and learnt from the professionalism in how he conducted TTANC meetings.

I watched him on the soccer field still holding that midfield role as I struggled in defense.  I remember those drives together to the games and of course the after-game lime, great times.

I listened to his band and his excellent bass playing and his willingness to incorporate musicians of different backgrounds in the band.  Never forgot watching him play that 5-string bass guitar, excellent groove, a pure natural.  Cyril even introduced me to Klipsch Speakers and I’ve been hooked ever since.

Most of all, I remember his love for people and family.  He was so welcoming.  As a new Bay Area resident in 1997, it was a pleasure to meet him, he invited me to his home.  Almost every weekend at his home on Catalpa Way, the music was playing, I was always excited to see that brick lined BBQ pit with the aromas of everything from meats, veggies and so many other dishes which were being prepared and the gathering with family and friends and being pumped by the music, positive energy and spirited conversations, smiles all around.

Most impressive was his relations with his family.  What a wonderful and beautiful family whom I always looked up to.  Marlene, always so warm and welcoming, Anisah, always a joy to see at their home, and all of his children, siblings, anytime I was lucky to spend time with them, it was always a joyous occasion, always fun to be around.

These are days I will never forget, precious memories forever etched in my brain, and times I consider myself blessed to have experienced.

I am sure the Angels are singing as Cyril’s positive, welcoming and loving energy permeates the heavens.

The world is a lesser place without him.

Cyril, although we spoke just a few weeks ago, we didn't go down memory lane,but I remember being on Nelson Street, being in the Altar boys at St.Mary's and the last time years ago when we met on Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn.

Cyril Boldon was a musician very opinionated about everything. 
He loves to tease my children. 
We are one of the one's started the Trinidad and Tobago Association of Northern California. 
He will be greatly missed.  He played football with the Senior group in San Jose.
SIP Cyril continue playing music and laughing, cracking jokes



We hugged you, joked with you and enjoyed your company as we usually do.  Little did we know it would be the last time we would be in bliss in your company.  You were always so kind and patient and caring.  We will miss you dearly. Love you forever.


Cyril was such a fun  person to be around. He had a lively spirit.  He had many talents. Whats stands out is his love of music. He was especially  passionate  about the  Steel drum #PAN.   He was also a jokester . He makes you laugh and enjoy being around him.  He will always be remembered fondly.  
May he rest in blissful peace.
