Betty Lou Smith, age 83, of Kennesaw, Georgia passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022. Betty was born November 30, 1938 in Parkersburg, West Virginia.
Betty is survived by her son Russell William Smith, III; her daughter Barbara Ann Borden (David); her daughter Cindy Lou Schriner; and her daughter Kimberly Jo Smith; her brother Joe Richards. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Russell William Smith, Jr.; her son Scott Allen Smith; her parents George A. and Velva Richards.
Betty was Southern Baptist and had worked with the Florida Council for the Aging as a Senior Advocate. She was a Sunday School teacher for toddlers at Cedar Shore Baptist. Betty Lou never lost faith as she suffered with cancer, always more concerned for her family than herself. She was a beautiful example of God’s love to anyone she met. Paul writes in the Bible, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” 2 Corinthians 5:8. That verse sustained us, when she took her last breath, we rejoiced that she was in the presence of Jesus and was not suffering any longer. We thank God for her life, that we were her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and that she loved us so beautifully.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Betty's memory may be made to Samaritan's Purse, samaritanspurse.org.
