Avery, you will be sorely missed. You have always supported Peter (Jubbie) and me from day 1. You have been Peter’s sister, mother and friend and I know he will miss talking with you about plants and flowers. You also kept us in the loop about family as well. Aunt Avery as I called her had an infectious laugh,  she loved to garden and cook.  I remember her being the  first and only one who introduced me to pickled cold saltfish in Jamaica when I spent some time with her and my father.  It was delicious with hard crackers, I have not replicated the taste.  Aunt Avery was a warrior in many areas of her life,  cancer never invaded her spirit, she fought successfully to the end and thank God she lived a wonderful life. Rest well Aunt Avery.

My deepest condolences to the family.  May Avery soul rest in eternal peace with the Lord. You will be greatly missed.

You had such a love for flowers and water; this day we got both!

Avery was the most generous and supportive spirit that I’ve ever encountered. I remember starting grad school in Memphis, Tennessee and Avery coming for a visit shortly after. During her visit she gave me words of kindness, pep talks, and filled my refrigerator with delicious home cooked meals. I’ll never forget her kindness. Her warmth will stay with me always. Sending love to her family and friends.

I only met Ms. Avery a few times and she was always so kind and welcoming. Her daughter Colleen is a friend - and Ms. Avery’s legacy will live on through Colleen. She raised one of the kindest and most amazing human beings ever…. Her enduring love and spirit will live on through her! My sympathies to you Colleen and your family. I hope you find comfort in your memories together and in God’s love for your mom, you, and all your family.  Big hugs!

I’ll always remember Avery visiting Aunt Sybil—her kindness, her quiet strength, and the way she helped out around the house without ever needing to be asked. She was an excellent, excellent person. Thoughtful, generous, and full of grace.

Right now, I speak as her cousin, mourning the loss of someone who was truly beautiful inside and out. Her presence made the world better, and her memory will live on in all the lives she touched.
