Rose Barrera Rampone, daughter of Pasquale and Francesca (Alimonti) Barrera passed away quietly on Thursday, November 14, 2024, in Kelowna, BC. Rose was born on December 20, 1925 at Kelowna General Hospital while her parents were living in Rutland (Kelowna), BC. There, they jointly operated a small farm with grandfather Pasquale Alimonti. In 1929, the Barrera family established a farm on Lakeshore Road, across from Rotary Beach.
In 1947, Rose married Albert Rampone, an incredible man with whom she had grown up. Together, they built their house on the Rampone Benvoulin Road farm. Side by side, they established a very successful dairy farm. They also operated a mail order business, supplying Italian families in Alberta and British Columbia with their winter supply of peppers and eggplants. In 1995, they moved to their Lanfranco Road condo. Albert passed away in 2013 and Rose stayed in the condo until her move in 2018 to an independent living suite at Missionwood Retirement Resort. In 2021, her decline in health saw her moving to the Vineyards, a new full care home, by Kelowna Golf Course.
Rose is survived by their three sons: Ray (Linda Lang) and Don (Jane Wong) of Kelowna and John (Tammy Avis) of Nelson, BC, granddaughter, Lori and great granddaughter, Nevaeh Placide. Also survived by sister in-laws Mary Barrera and Nina Barrera Coltelli, cousins Gina Yarrow, Diana Headley and Alfy Constantini, nieces and nephews Josie Hagglund, Louise Guterres, Gina Fontaine, Cindy Parmelee and Luigi and John Barrera. Predeceased by her husband, Albert, her brothers, Luigi, Camillo and Peo and niece, Mary.
