Pearl Betty was born May 9,1929 in Simmie Saskatchewan to parents, Bessie and Elwood Bolton. In October 1936, at the age of 7, she moved with her family to Summeralnd, BC. There she attended MacDonald Elementary School and later Summerland High School and graduated in 1947. A talented artist with an eye for detail, she then went on to Art School in Alberta and then Normal School where she studied to become a teacher.
At the beginning of her career, Pearl taught in several schools in northern and central BC. In 1956 she married Gordon Mackenzie and the couple moved to West Vancouver where Pearl continued her career as an art teacher for the next 24 years with the Vancouver School District .
In 1980, Pearl and Gordon left the big city behind and moved to Kelowna where they owned and operated a Health Food Store. After the passing of her husband, Gordon, in 1985, Pearl moved back to Summerland where she continued to fill her life with participation in a number of different organizations. She was an active and well-respected member of the Summerland Baptist Church, University Women’s Group, the Pionaires, the Retired Teacher’s Association. She also enjoyed her seasons tickets to the Vancouver Opera and the Okanagan Symphony.
Travel was avery significant part of her life. Since Gordon worked with the airlines they travelled extensively around the world to places such as England, Europe, Asia, Russia, Australia, Egypt, Israel, and Thailand just to name a few.
In 2011, Pearl moved back to Kelowna and lived at the Missionwood Retirement Resort, where she continued to be social, playing bingo and doing puzzles. Due to her declining health, she moved into long term care at Lakeview Lodge in March 2023 She lived here under the fine care of the doctors and nurses on staff until her passing.
Pearl was predeceased by her husband, Gordon ( 1985), her parents; Bessie and Elwood Bolton, her 5 siblings and their spouses; Alma ( and her husband , Jack) Brown, Isobel (and her husband Andrew) Brown, Arthur Bolton, Morris Bolton ( and wife, Jean), and Paul Bolton.
She leaves to mourn several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, an great great nieces and nephews, as well as one great great great niece.

A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at the Canyon View Cemetery in Summerland, with a Memorial Service to be held on Thursday, August 3rd, 2023 at 1:00 PM from the Summerland Baptist Church, 10318 Ellis Street, Summerland BC.
