It is with sadness the family announces the passing of their loving mother and grandmother at the age of 101. She was born in Liverpool, England and grew up in Wallasey with her parents and her brother, Albert. She served in the British Army (ATS) during WW2 and met her future husband, Maurice, near the end of the war. She immigrated to Canada to join him in 1947.
The family moved to Kelowna from Radville, Sask, in 1961. Upon arriving in Kelowna, she was first employed as a clerical worker at AIC and then at Kelowna General Hospital, retiring in 1983.
She had a strong Christian faith and enjoyed musical theatre, old movies, dogs, birds, the casino and crossword puzzles. She was an active and enthusiastic life-time member of the War Brides club for many years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Maurice, in 2004, and is survived by her four children, Gillian (Daryal), Bernard (Susan), Brian (Valerie), and Norman (Kathy); five grandchildren, Kevin, Shelley, Kara, Taylor and Kyle; four great-grandchildren, Alexis, McKenna, Kody and Jessica; and one great-great grandchild, Emryss.
The family is grateful that she never lost her zest for life, her phenomenal memory or her sense of humour. She continued to live in her own apartment until her very last day.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Church, 839 Sutherland Avenue, at 11:00 AM on February 7, 2022.
In lieu of flowers, friends who so wish may make a donation in her memory to a charity of their choice.
