Margaret was born in Penticton, BC on August 28, 1942 to parents Jim and Corry (Margaret) Barnes, the middle daughter of 3 girls. She lived with her parents and sisters, CorryAnn and Sally, in various towns in the interior of BC growing up.
Margaret went to business college and became a bookkeeper and enjoyed a long fulfilling career until her retirement.
In 1970 Margaret married Basil Hardman in San Francisco and the two settled in North Vancouver to raise daughter, Bonnie and son, Scott. They spent a few years living in Sydney, Australia before returning to North Vancouver. They eventually left the lower mainland to retire in the Okanagan.
Margaret had a real passion for music. She taught herself to play guitar, keyboard and Ukulele. Despite all that Alzheimer’s disease stole from her, she could still sing all the words to her favourites. Margaret had a wonderful sense of humour and loved a good party.
Margaret was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend. Those who were fortunate enough to be loved by her feel her loss deeply.
She was many things to many people but one word that kept coming up at the end was “feisty”. She was determined, lively and courageous and yes, she was indeed, feisty.
Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Lakeview Lodge in West Kelowna who showed Margaret such caring and kindness in her final year.
