I only met Harold briefly, through my friend Jack Kelly. But it took no time to realize that Harold was truly one of a kind, the best kind for sure. My condolences to his family and friends. Harold will always be on our minds.

Hearing about Harold’s passing,  who first certified me as a volleyball referee, fills me with a profound sense of loss and gratitude.

He was more than just an instructor; he was a mentor who instilled in me the principles of fairness, integrity, and dedication to the game. His guidance and encouragement helped shape my journey in refereeing, and his influence extends far beyond my initial certification.

I remember his passion for the sport and his commitment to nurturing new referees and it inspires me to honour his legacy by upholding the high standards he set.

Harold previously served as the Regional Officials Chair for Volleyball Alberta and was inducted to the Volleyball Alberta Hall of Fame, as a Referee, in 2012.

While his absence will be deeply felt, his impact on my life and the lives of many others will endure.

We are still struggling to believe that Harold has really passed. We hope that as each day goes by your grief is a bit less and you are comforted by fond memories of him. To Betty, Kim, Jen, and family,

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the recent loss of Harold. As I reflect on our shared summer vacations at Christina Lake, I am filled with many fond and heartwarming memories. Harold’s competitive yet fun spirit shone brightly in organizing the annual lawn dart tournaments, creating excitement, camaraderie, and unforgettable moments. I also fondly recall the occasional volleyball games (although we usually lost!) down the beach and the joy of water skiing together.

During this difficult time, please know that many are keeping you in their thoughts and prayers. May the cherished memories of the many happy times bring you comfort and peace.

My Deepest sympathy to Betty Anne and family on Harold's passing. I had the highest regard for Harold during our years working together in Vegreville Catholic Schools. Harold could always be counted on to put forth whatever was best for the students. On a personal level  I appreciated him spending extra time with my sonMichael as he adjusted to a new community and the death of his Mother. HARold was a good man who will be deeply missed.

Our deepest sympathy to all of you. Harold was such a memorable character….kind, quick witted, fair (except maybe in cards?), funny, athletic and made the difference in the lives of so many kids…parents commented he was the best teacher ever, students recall him as The Candy Man, the person who influenced them to enjoy sports…and he loved his family. The best host, wine connoisseur, card player and world traveler. I have told many Friends about Harold’s family’s story of moving to New Denver during the war….Harold was never bitter about that and proud how his family succeeded through it all, a true and proud Canadian. 
Rest In Peace Friend and thanks for all the smiles you brought to so many. May the gentle and fun memories bring you all Peace.

It is with much sadness that I learned of Harold's passing and I wish to express my sincere sympathy to all of your family......memories of shared events in school ,sports  and life come to mind as Harold was the consummate competitor, team mate, classmate and always,...a gentleman..... Life goes by so quickly and Harold's passing just seems all too soon.....words are hard to find to express the sorrow that we all feel.....the community has lost a great friend....I am so sorry for your loss.....
