November 13, 1934 - May 2, 2019
It is with sad hearts that we say goodbye to our dear dad, grandpa, husband, brother, uncle, friend, boss, and colleague. George is survived by his loving wife, Eunice; brother, Leonard (Sandi); sister, Florence; children - Daniel (Tanis), Gregory (Anne-Marie), and Melanie (Andrew); grandchildren - Anthony (Christine), Alison, Emily, Eva, Ian, and Elise; and many nieces, and nephews. Thank you to the staff and volunteers at Brandt’s Creek Mews for the care you provided. George was much loved by his community. For many years he was Superintendent of Kelowna Parks and his legacy continues in the form of the numerous beautiful parks he designed and maintained, perhaps most notably Kasugai Japanese Garden. He was an active conservationist. He gave countless hours to the George Mitchell Wildlife Preserve, which re-populated Wood Lake with Kokanee. He was a dedicated member of local Fish and Game Clubs for his entire adult life. As a young man, he served in Korea with the Canadian Army Medical Corps. George enjoyed the wonders of creation, helping plants and animals flourish, and sitting in a boat with a fishing rod in his hands. A celebration of life will be held at the Oceola Fish and Game Clubhouse at 11888 McGowan Rd, Lake Country, BC on July 21, 2019 at 1:30 pm.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at ww.valleyviewfuneralhome.com for the Mitchell family.
