David was predeceased by his parents David Thompson Smith and Edythe Alberta (Doherty) Smith and his sister Margaret Banasky. He worked at Wawanesa Insurance form 1962 till 1980 when he and family moved to Kelowna and he became a partner at Hansen, Bate & Smith Insurance. They sold the company to Interior Savings Credit Union, but he remained there until he retired in late 2004. In February 2005, he started at Orchard Ford as their shuttle driver two days a week and stayed there till his untimely death. He was doing a job he absolutely loved and loved the Orchard Ford family.
He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Marilynn Jean; two sons Daniel Edward and Jamie Adam; two grandchildren Liydia Chaise and Adam Mitchell; sister-in-law Lorraine and her husband Joe Matilda and many nieces and nephews.
He played soccer and was coach to soccer in Kelowna for many years.
Cremation – No service by request.
