Cheryl Anne Boyle (nee Holmes), age 79, of Kelowna BC, passed away bravely and peacefully with family at her side on Monday April 15, 2024. She is survived by her loving daughter Wendy (Shayne), beloved grandchildren Ella and Oren, older sister Bonnie Jean (BJ), niece Patricia (and family) and nephew David (and family) and lifelong friend Marilyn. She is now reunited with her dear husband Robert (Bob) and parents Albert and Vivian Holmes.
Cheryl was born in Niagara Falls, ON and grew up in Hamilton and Ottawa where her father Albert worked for CN Rail. She attended Ottawa Teachers College and taught elementary school for two years before attending Carleton University and obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in 1969. Cheryl and Bob met in 1967 through mutual friends at Carleton and were wed in September 1969. They shared a happy life together in Gloucester, ON, and in 1971, they welcomed Wendy into their lives. In 2013, Cheryl moved to Kelowna to be closer to Wendy & family and enjoyed a content life at Sandalwood Retirement Community.
Cheryl will always be remembered for her laughter, child-like innocence and wonder, and love of beauty and nature. Cheryl fought many lifelong health battles but always tried to put on a brave face. She also loved fiercely, especially her true love Bob and her only child Wendy. She taught many of us that strength, respect and kindness must always prevail. She will be missed dearly by Wendy and the many who loved her; however, we are comforted that she is finally chronic pain free and is also at peace with Bob and many other kind souls.
Cheryl’s Celebration of Life will be at First Memorial Funeral Chapel at 1211 Sutherland Ave. Kelowna, on Saturday May 11, 2024. A gathering starts at 1:30pm and the service at 3:00pm. Donations to Kelowna General Hospital Foundation in Cheryl’s name in lieu of flowers are appreciated.
