A beloved partner, mother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, granddaughter and friend, Angela Thompson suddenly and unexpectedly left this world at 39 years of age on Sunday December 27, 2020. Angela will be greatly missed and lovingly remember by the love of her life, her partner Michael Lasby.
She is survived by her two children, and will be lovingly remembered by her Mother, Sharon Wesa (Hartley) her Sisters, Tracy Scheller (Melvin, Makayla and Madisyn) and Tammy Thompson. Her paternal Grandparents, and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends. Angela was preceded by her Father, Jerry Thompson and her paternal Grandparents, Martha and Leo Van Pelt.
Those who knew Angela, even just a little, know that the world is a much darker place today than it was before her passing. Words cannot give significance to Angela's spirit. It was wild, strong and free. Angela grew up in Calgary and spent time living in Lethbridge, Vernon, and Kelowna. Angela made many true and lasting friendships along the way.
Angela met Michael while living in Vernon and instantly knew he was the one for her and from that time on she decided to settle down in the Okanogan with the love of her life. Angela was known to be strong and resilient. Even when she fell, she picked herself up and marched ahead, albeit to the beat of her own drum. Angela loved spending time at the family cabin and did so whenever she could. She loved being outdoors hiking and exploring with Michael, she loved snowboarding and paddle boarding. She loved life.
Angela dedicated her later years to helping those who suffered from the same afflictions that she herself had battled. Angela proudly graduated from Sprott Shaw College with a diploma in Community Support Worker - Social Services and promptly set to work at the John Howard Society helping those in need. We are all very proud of her hard work and accomplishments.
When you think of Angela, remember her contagious smile and laughter, her silly antics and bubbly personality. Remember her caring and understanding spirit, who never judged anyone. Who loved life and embraced all its challenges. Angela touched the hearts of many and made a lasting impression in this world. Angela's presence will be noticeable missed.
A private family memorial will take place in the coming days with a memorial to proceed in the upcoming summer of 2021.
In lieu of flowers we ask that you support your local addictions and recovery center in Angela's name.
