Alex Edward George MacLeod

MACLEOD: Alex. Our hearts are broken and we are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Alex.( AKA, husband,dad,popa dampa,uncle and friend, the best one could ever have). He passed peacefully in the evening after a long courageous battle with Parkinson's. Family and friends came to be by his side to say goodbye to this amazing man.

Alex was predeceased by his parents Alexander and Violet. His brothers Dan and John, his sisters, Kaye, Daisy, Marion and Anne Jean, and niece Mary and nephew Jim MacLeod.

Alex is survived by nephews, Dan MacLeod, Jerry MacLeod and Johnny MacLeod and families Les CLeverly and family, and Alex Thompson and family. Nieces Marlaine Zschiedrich and family, Janice Dumka and family. Violet Stewart and family, Diane Ecles and family. Lorraine Owens and family, Marion Benedet and family, Daisy Stanton and family, Jeannie Georgetti and family Beverly MacLeod, and Marilyn WHilshire and family.

Alex's legacy will be proudly carried on by his wife of 63 years, Pat MacLeod and his children, Deb (Kevin) Schellenberg, Sandy (Carey) Kaiser and Shawn MacLeod. His grandchildren Erin (Greg) Sharp. Jarrett (leissa) Bennett, Lysey (Sean) Kaiser,Kaitlin Paul) Schellenberg, Amanda (Jesse ) Patriick,Tyler MacLeod, Jessica (Nick ) Schellenberg , Alex (Nelson) Kaiser, Max (Robynne) MacLeod, Riley Rae (MacLeod). His great grandchildren, Abby, cooper and Dexter Sharp, Solomon Bennett, Josie and George Shuttleworth. Jackson Patrick and Victoria,MacLeod and many other relatives too important to Alex not to mention.; Aimee Lang, mother of Amanda,Tyler and Max MacLeod. brother in law Bob Miller, niece Kathy Twiss and nephew Scott Miller, and the Bourchier nieces, Tanis CHristine and Heather.

Alex was born in Trail where he grew up with his family, living in a beautiful log House on the mountain. He enjoyed fishing, riding his horse Blondie, and playing with his loyal dog Rollo. As a teenager, he joined the lacrosse team in Rossland and soon became one of the top scoring forwards on the senior team the Rossland Red Men.

In the summer of 1958 Alex moved to California to take his trade in masonry. It was a good trade for him to take as he learned very quickly to lay brick and also to build fireplaces veneered with stonework.Pat joined Alex in1959 and they were married on Aug. 8th 1959. They stayed in California, working and raising their three children. In 1969 the MacLeods moved back to Canada and settled in Kelowna. He started work building stone fireplaces in homes all over Kelowna and West bank.His first block building was the car wash on highway 97 for Dave Skoglund, Dave and Alex formed a friendship that lasted his lifetime. After his first building , there was no way of stopping his progress, with his crew of ten or more men he went on to building strip malls, neighborhood pubs, like Whisky Jacks in Westbank. One of the projects that Alex was very proud of was the Four Seasons Racket Club, he did all the block work and the fireplace, with two rackets formed in the stonework.Another large project was with Petro Canada, changing all the Gulf Gas Stations into Petro Canada Gas Stations.

Alex enjoyed his family, his work, his sports, like golfing, tennis, boating and water skiing, snow skiing and staying in his condo at Big White. His favorite sport was lacrosse, He played in the Kelowna men's team for several years and he coached and sponsored a junior team aged 6 to 12 years, namely ' The Hard Rocks".and they won the championship that year. He was also a volunteer fireman on the Lakeview heights fire department for several years

Alex made a lasting impression on everyone he met. His joyful giving spirit and playful sense of humor was contagious. He will be remembered for his kind and generous heart and his unwavering love for his wife and family. He was always eager to lend a hand whenever needed and these traits explain the bonds he formed with so many friends.

Alex's legacy of family will continue on, he was our hero, our rock and he will always be with us in the love we share, the stories we tell and the way we live our lives..

There will be a great Celebration of his Life held sometime in the Spring 2023
