A native of Pawtucket, R.I., Richard was born on August 8, 1948. He graduated from St. Rafael's Academy, Pawtucket, R.I. in 1966 and the University of Rhode Island in 1978. He served as a reserved drill instructor in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1974.
He began his 33-year career at Texas Instruments in Attleboro, Mass. in 1968, starting off as a factory worker and ending as a supply chain purchasing manager for the automotive division before retiring in 2001. Richard was a real estate agent with Bob Cassidy Real Estate and Coldwell Banker in Attleboro, Mass. from 2001 - 2007.
He lived in North Attleboro, Mass., for over thirty years before relocating to Highland Lake in Stoddard, N.H. in 2007. He spent the last eight years working as a school bus driver for First Student in Hillsboro, N.H. where he truly loved driving children and young adults to school, sporting events, and field trips.
Richard loved camping, lake living, boating, golf, his travels to Tampa and spending time with his grandchildren.
Beloved husband of 28 years to LaDonna (Barker) Gariepy, he was the devoted son of Rita Gariepy of Pawtucket, R.I., and the late Frederick Gariepy. He was a loving father to Kristen Collins and her husband Andrew of Needham, Mass., and his son, Brian Pichierri and his partner Claude Hosch of Riverview, Fla. He is survived by his siblings James Gariepy and Kiet Ly of Costa Mesa, Calif.; Robert Gariepy and his wife Mary Jane of Charlottesville, Va.; Diane Dingley and her husband Mark of North Kingstown, R.I.; Carol Varin and her husband Ron of Beddington, Maine; Michael Gariepy and his wife Kathy of Portland, Ore.; and Gail Giouard and her husband Paul of Attleboro, MA; his grandchildren, Rory and Kiernan Collins of Needham, Mass., and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, August 30th from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at the Stonewall Farm, 242 Chesterfield Road, Keene, NH. Family and friends are welcome.
