She was born in Keene, on September 10, 1929, the daughter of Gilbert and Catherine (Walker ) Dompier. She attended the Saint Joseph Regional School and was a 1948 graduate of Keene High School.
She married Alonzo W. Neff, Sr. on February 16, 1957 in a ceremony at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, in Keene.
She was an aide in the library at the Bellows Falls Middle School for over 15 years. She and her husband lived in Saxtons River, VT for 42 years before moving to Keene in 2011.
As the mother of eight; with three sets of twins, she was the epitome of a homemaker. She loved her family, her children, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She loved cooking, sewing and knitting, making many outfits and accessories for her family. She was also a talented quilter. Fall brought out the canning jars and the yarn for new mittens and hats. She also enjoyed reading, puzzles on her iPad and volunteering her time at St Edmunds Church in Saxtons River, VT and St Charles Church in Bellows Falls, VT. For 19 years she and Alonzo were volunteers in Bradenton, FL for the Spring Training camp of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
She is survived by her husband, of 58 years, Alonzo W. Neff, Sr. of Keene; eight children: Catherine Neff of Waterbury, VT, Carleen Ashley and her husband Chuck of Waterbury, VT, Alonzo W. Neff, Jr. and his wife Carol, of Chester, VT, Cheryl Sellner and her husband Kent of Niskayuna, NY, Laurie Neff of Keene, NH, Lisa Harmon and her husband William, Sr. of Saxtons River, VT, Linnea Davis of Swanzey, NH and Mary Schemm and her husband Robert of Whitehall, MD; 14 grandchildren: Nicholas Ashley, Samantha Ashley, Weston Neff, Ellen Neff, Andrew Sellner, Katie Hanatow, William Harmon, Jr., Sarah Alderman, Benjamin Davis, Rebecca Davis, Amanda Bassetti, and Christopher Schemm; 2 great grandchildren: Landen Alderman and Jacob Hanatow; a nephew: Robert Neff; and a sister: Irene Muka and her husband Lewis of Leyden, MA. She was predeceased by two grandchildren: Ashley Sellner and Matthew Davis, as well as her sister Anna Woods and a brother Francis Dompier.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Saint Bernard’s Church in Keene at 10:00 am. Calling hours will be held Monday, March, 16, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at the Fletcher Funeral Home. Burial will take place later in the spring in the family lot at the St. Charles Cemetery in Westminster, VT.
