Laurie Louise Dunn

She was born on Jan 21, 1959 to Stuart V. and Marjorie (Pierson) Nims in Keene, NH. She graduated from Keene High School in 1977, and later attended and completed schooling at the Keene Beauty Academy in 1979.

Laurie met and married her soulmate of 34 years, John E. Dunn on June 21, 1980. They had two children, Nichole and Lucas.

Over the years, she worked for several area businesses, including a hair salon in Hinsdale, the Cheshire Airways Airport as an administrative clerk and for the Unitarian Universalist Church as the church secretary. She took a break from the regular workforce to focus on her family and raise her children, but was always by her husband's side on his contracting jobs helping him every inch of the way. Laurie also worked at the Keene and Swanzey Post Offices for many years where she greeted all her customers with a bright smile and warm heart.

Laurie was extremely artistic and creative. Just a few of her many talents included creating beautiful pieces of stain glass and spinning her own wool to knit keepsakes for her family. She had a green thumb and took great pride in her rose gardens.

Laurie always put her family first. She was a constant presence at all of her children's school and life events. She always supported and pushed both of them to pursue their passions, always offering the best advice. Laurie had a heart of gold and was true leader that always set a good example for others to emulate.

She is survived by her husband, John E. Dunn of Swanzey: her children Lucas S. Dunn of Swanzey and Nichole E. Higgins and husband Vincent of Clarksville, TN; her sisters Deborah J. Cheever and husband Thomas of Concord, NH and Martha A. Merenda of Stanhope, NJ. Her father Stuart V. Nims and Marjorie Nims, brother Stuart C. Nims and brother-in-law Marcos Merenda all died earlier.

Services for Laurie will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro St. Keene, NH. A burial service will follow at the Westport Village Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday evening, May 1, 2015 from 5:00-7:00pm at the funeral home.
