She was born in Rochester, NH on November 3, 1938, the daughter of Leo and Josephine (Scarborough) Caron. Gloria grew up in Keene attending local schools and was a 1956 graduate of Keene High School.
Mrs. Kearney attended Keene Teachers College, graduating in 1960 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, and was a member of the Kappa Delta Pi.
In 1959, Gloria married David Kearney. Together they raised two sons, and created many wonderful memories over their 55 years together. Sadly, David died on April 20, 2015.
After raising the two boys, Gloria worked for a number of years at the National Grange Mutual Insurance Company and at Minnewawa Manufacturing Company. She retired from Whitney Brothers Company having worked eighteen years in their accounting department.
Gloria was an avid reader, and liked to take walks, bike and climb mountains. Trips to the ocean, Canada, Key West and Bermuda were her favorites. She was an excellent cook, hosting many family meals. The most important thing to her was her family and most of all, she loved caring for her granddaughter, Tara.
She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Bernard Church in Keene.
She will be greatly missed by many, especially her granddaughter, Tara Kearney of Keene. She was predeceased by her sons, Derek Kearney in March 2017 and Steven Kearney in November 2023; her brother, Roger Caron in October 2019; and her aunt, Arlene Meade in April 2017.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 2, 2024 at 10:30am in St. Bernard Church, 185 Main Street, Keene. Burial with committal prayers will follow the funeral mass in the Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Avenue, Keene.
