Fred was born the son of late Deborah (Luce) and Winfred Jackson on June 16, 1931 in Winchester, NH.
As a young man, Fred enlisted in the U.S. Army as a heavy equipment engineer during the Korean War conflict.
Upon return from the service, Fred worked for the City of Keene, G.W. Stone Company, Ball and Wixon Construction Company as a heavy equipment operator and master carpenter, and at the time of his retirement, owned and operated Fred W. Jackson Trucking.
In his earlier years, he loved taking his boat and fishing on Lake Winnipesaukee with his own flies he tied, and attending the horse pulls at the Cheshire Fair up until age 90. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and tending to his vegetable gardens.
Fred will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather. Survivors include; his son, Barry L. Jackson of Gilsum; his daughters: Sherry L. Norton of Merrimack, NH, Jill A. Larro of Milford, NH; Lisa E. Fisk of Swanzey, NH; his brother, William "Bill" F. Jackson of Swanzey, NH. His grandchildren, Blake Norton, Lindsey (Norton) Beers, Brian Norton, Christopher Larro, Casey Larro, Kevin Fisk, Kyle Fisk; eight great-grandchildren; his nephews, Timothy Brewer, Kevin Brewer, William Jackson Jr., Michael Jackson; and his nieces, Donna Brewer and Taylor Jackson. Fred is predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Carmen (Van Bever) Jackson, a sister, Violet Jackson Brewer, and a nephew, Keith Brewer.
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, June 3, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene, NH. A funeral service and burial with military honors at the Evergreen Cemetery, Winchester, NH, will be held privately by the family.
