Dorothy Ann (Hudson) Hodge, 85, a of resident of Keene, NH and Flagler Beach, FL, passed away peacefully at home, with her loving family by her side, on June 11th 2018 following a very brief period of failing health.
Dorothy was born the first of four children to John J. Hudson and Doris L.(Gorman) Hudson, on September 15th, 1932 in Berlin NH. She attended Saint Joseph Regional School, and graduated from Keene High School class of 1950. She went on to work at Peerless Insurance Company, was a secretary for many years for John Shortlidge and Arthur Trombley, Attorney at Law, and she also worked beside her husband, as a secretary at Keene Monument Company.
While working as a hostess at Big Boy Restaurant in Keene, she met her soul mate of 33 years, James Hodge. They were married in a simple service in Ormond Beach, Florida on January 17, 1973. Sadly, James passed away on September 4, 2006 from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease.
Dotty, as she was affectionately known, loved playing a good game of Bingo, Bridge or Bunco which she played several nights a week at different venues. She enjoyed traveling and cruising with her husband and friends going to many exotic places. Dotty also enjoyed a good round of golf. She always had a joke to tell and a picture to share.
Dotty was a member of the Keene Senior Center, Keene Emblem Club, Keene Woman’s Club and Flagler Beach Woman’s Club. She was also a long time member of the Alzheimer’s Support Group.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Lisa Blanchard and her husband Jay, of Keene her two granddaughters that she adored, Nicole Blanchard and Kathryn Blanchard of Keene, her siblings, Jack Hudson and his wife Judith of Rochester, NH, Elizabeth Wilder of Keene and Robert Hudson and his wife Linda of Plantsville, CT and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her late husband James, her brother in law, Charles Wilder, and sister in law, Kathryn Hudson.
Family and friends are warmly invited to call at Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene on Monday June 18th from 4-6 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 19, at St. Bernard’s Church, 185 Main Street, Keene at 11 a.m. The Rev. Msgr. Daniel O. Lamothe will be the celebrant. Burial will immediately follow at St Joseph Cemetery in Keene
