Donna Lee Lawrence

Donna was born in Keene, NH on March 24, 1947 the daughter of Archibald and Catherine (Taylor) Mason, Sr.

She was a resident of Swanzey for most of her life and attended local schools and graduated from Monadnock Regional High School in 1965 with high honors.

Most of her working career she was a secretary working at the Markem Corp., Beech Hill Hospital, Frontier Adjusters, and the Monadnock Regional High School. She also had her own business, a used clothing store called the “Kids Closet”.

She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family was the center of her life making whatever sacrifices were necessary for their happiness.

She was kind, giving selflessly of herself, and was an inspiration to her family and friends.

She was an accomplished gardener, loved all animals especially her dogs.

We will all miss her but are better for having had her in our lives.

She is survived by her husband Mark Lawrence, her high school sweetheart whom she married on December 10, 1966 one year after her graduation. She is also survived by two sons; Andrew Lawrence of Chandler, AZ and Sopurkh Khalsa and his wife Snatam of Santa Cruz, CA; a granddaughter Jap Preet of Santa Cruze, CA and a grandson Gage Lawrence of Utica, NY; a sister Eleanor Berube and her husband Al of Salisbury, MA and her brother Archibald Mason, Jr. of Keene, NH; several nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Donna’s caregiver Sarah Houston for making Donna’s end of life comfortable and peaceful.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Bernard’s Church, 185 Main Street, Keene, NH on Wednesday morning, March 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Swanzey Center, NH in the spring. There are no visiting hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Monadnock Humane Society, 101 West Swanzey Road, West Swanzey, NH 03446.
