He was born in Troy, NH on May 6, 1935, the son of Felix H. and Bessie (O’Brien) Lorette. Carl was the youngest of 12 children and grew up in Swanzey, attending schools there.
He married Paula Russell on June 22, 1956 on Sandy Island, Lake Winnipesaukee, NH.
He worked for Keene State College for over 38 years and retired as the Assistant Supervisor for Physical Plant: Plumbing and Heating. During his time at Keene State, he also served as Vice President of the local chapter of the State Employees Association.
Carl served as a selectman for the Town of Surry for many years. He also served on the Budget Committee as well. He was an active member of Beth-El Bible Church in Surry for many years.
He enjoyed gardening and building intricate stonewalls when he was at home but also loved to travel with his wife. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren whether it was family celebrations or attending his grandchildren’s sporting and school events.
Carl’s family remembers him as generous, gentle, loving, and understanding but one also with great strength of character and faith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Paula Lorette of Surry; his children Jim Lorette, and wife Andrea, of Westmoreland, John Lorette, and wife Kristal, of Keene and Jill Gourley, and husband Scott, of Westmoreland; his grandchildren Lindsay DeWees, Kaleb DeWees and Hayden Gourley; his brother Raymond Lorette of Billerica, MA; and many nieces and nephews. Carl was preceded in death by his brothers: Herbert, Vern, Joseph, Charles (Frank), and Walter Lorette; and sisters: Pearl Koch, Shirley Sundstrom, Hazel Denis, Abbie Nikiforakis, and Christine Weeks.
A memorial service will be held for Carl on Sunday, December 28th, 2014, at 3:00 pm, at Beth-El Bible Church, 13 Village Road, in Surry. An hour visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the same location. Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro St., Keene, NH is assisting with the arrangements.
