The final threads of life’s tapestry were sewn for Beatrice M. Sprague on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 in Lebanon, NH, where she peacefully passed away, surrounded by the comfort and love of her family.
Her journey began on April 13, 1930 in Langdon, NH, where she was born to Prinne and Anna (Spaulding) Howard. Throughout her life she learned the values of family, hard work and above all unconditional love. Hard work was something that came to her early in her youth and she continued this into her adulthood: for many years she worked for Douglas Toy Company, stuffing toys and helping in her own way to bring joy to the children that would someday grow to love these little creatures.
The aroma of homemade breads, baked beans and other delicious creations was always the welcoming scent of her home. She would spend hours creating wonderful meals to share with those that she loved and was always happy to welcome those who might be visiting. There was always a craft project that she was working on: crocheting, knitting and sewing were some of her favorite.
Beatrice was blessed with musical talent and was gifted to be able to learn to play most any instrument in a short period of time. The guitar was her instrument of choice. When she listened to music, her favorites were Elvis and country music. Singing was also something that she enjoyed and karaoke was a little more fun when she was a part of it.
She leaves her children: Wilbur Sprague and his wife Judy, Donna Champney, Donald Sprague and his wife Heidi, Barbara Mooney and her husband Daniel, Joan Derosier and her partner Richard and April Sears and her husband Scott, Brothers Rex and Doug Howard, eighteen grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, eleven great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. She joins two sons: Ronald and Kenneth, sons-in-law: James Champney, Jr. and Randall Derosier, her companion: Harold Audet, her sister: Joan Timmons and her brother: Maurice Howard.
A Funeral Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 12pm at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court St. Keene, NH. Burial will be held in the Centennial Cemetery in Gilsum, NH in the Spring and will be announced as the date draws closer. Family and friends are invited to call on the family on Tuesday from 11am to 12pm. Those attending the services are asked to wear purple, as it was Beatrice’s favorite color.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Langdon Place c/o Activity Fund, 136A Arch St. Keene, NH. 03431 or to Joy’s Network, 463 Washington St. Keene, NH. 03431.
