William "Will" J. Mellerowicz, age 71, of Keego Harbor, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep next to his beloved wife of 45 years on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 15, 1953. Will graduated from St. Mary's Preparatory High School, class of 1971 and went on to earn an MBA in teaching at the University of Detroit Mercy.
Will married Mary Therese Sarpolus on July 20, 1979 and the couple had 3 daughters together. He was a caring husband and father to his family. Until his very last breath, he was a devoted employee with The Home Depot for the last 29 years in Pontiac. Will could be found helping out colleagues and customers in every department. He was very knowledgeable and passionate about his career.
Will was a committed Roman Catholic and a member of St. Mary's Church and Our Lady of Refuge. Will enjoyed organizing fundraisers, parties and coordinating events. During his life, Will was an avid sports fan, history buff, loved cars, collected antiques, and used his "engineer brain" to build and fix almost anything. He also loved coaching, playing basketball, and singing in the choir. In his free time you could find Will and his wife Mary up north enjoying a sunset on their lake property on Saginaw Bay, antique hunting, camping in their RV, enjoying a Tiger’s game, concerts, and driving their vintage little white Corvette convertible. Will always tried his best to make others happy and had a willingness to help his family and friends. Will leaves behind many people that will miss him greatly.
Will is survived by his loving wife Mary Mellerowicz; children Kathleen (Ian) McPheeters, Jennifer (Joel) Fonferko, and Therese (Tristan) Schwarz; grandchildren: Quinn, Gordon, Lukas, Arya, and Julia; siblings: Paul, David, Mary (Kevin) Wolff, and John (deceased).
