Tomas Rodriguez was born on September 22, 1944, in Corpus Christi, Tx. He was the only child of Manuel and Albina (Alvarez) Rodriguez.
Tomas is survived by his beautiful wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, Ex-son in law JD Prine and many other loved ones. Tomas and Alicia (De Leon) Rodriguez met in 1959 and they Married on June 12, 1964. They were happily married for 55 years at the time of his death. Together, they had 4 wonderful children: Tomas Jr.(Virginia), Mario(Lisa), Terry(Melisa) and Patricia(John Swift); 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Tomas served in the United States National Guard for 4 years through high school. He was excused from serving in the Army after basic training in 1964 due to the “only child” exemption, but continued to serve in the national guard once again until being honorably discharged, once more, to care for his wife and family in times of sickness.
Tomas was a man of many Trades. He worked for Coca-cola for 13 years, JC Penny for 12 and eventually retired from National Oilwell Varco after 15 years due to health related disability in 2009. Tomas was a hard working man all his life. He loved his family and friends unconditionally. Despite the many hurdles life threw at him, he never lost his brilliant sense of humor or ability to smile through it all. There isn't a person he met whose life he didn't touch in some way. He was full of life and the world was a better place with him in it. It would be impossible to get across the astounding man, husband, father, grandfather and friend that he was, in so few words. He will be greatly missed and continuously celebrated.
His memorial service will be held in Katy, at Katy Funeral Home at 23350 Kingsland Blvd., Katy Texas 77494 on Wednesday January 9, 2019 at 4pm. The reception will be from 5-7pm.
