Sally Elizabeth Burdick (Channell), beloved mother and grandmother was born on September 7,1935 and passed away on March 26, 2025, in Richmond, Texas. She was 89 years old. She was born and raised in Houston, Texas and graduated from Jefferson Davis Senior High School in 1953. After high school, she worked at Nestle company for three years as an Office Manager until 1956. On December 1, 1956, she married Henry Bernard “Hank” Burdick, and they began their life together in Shreveport, Louisiana. They welcomed their first child, Michele Rene Burdick (Dickens) in 1958. They moved to Houston, Texas and in 1962, they welcomed a second child, Melissa Lee Burdick (Holbrook). In addition to raising her family, she became involved in the community and was active in the local PTA. She began a second career in 1970, working for Stanley Home Products rising to the position of Unit Sales Leader and Assistant Branch Manager until 1982. In 1977, she became actively involved in the San Jacinto North Junior College Community Theatre productions. In 1980, she achieved her dream of a college education and received an Associate of Arts degree from San Jacinto North Junior College. She continued with her education earning a Bachelor of Arts (1982) and a Master of Arts (1983) from the University of Houston, Clear Lake with a specialization in theatre. She worked as a Drama Instructor and Director at San Jacinto North Junior College in the theatre department from 1983 to 1985. In 1986, she began a thirteen-year career with Estee Lauder as a promotional assistant/specialist traveling to stores throughout the city of Houston. She met many good friends through Estee Lauder who became known as the “Lipstick Sisters”. She retired from Estee Lauder in 2000. After the death of her husband, she bought her first home and moved to Heritage Grand in Katy, Texas to begin a new life. Along the way, she met many new friends and was very involved in all the community activities. In December of 2019, she moved to Delaney of Parkway Lakes in Richmond, Texas meeting new friends and continuing her friendships from Heritage Grand.
Sally always wanted to experience as much as life as was possible which included education, travel, her family and friends and all that life had to hold. When she wasn’t working, her hobbies over the years included oil and water painting, planting flowers and gardening, dancing, theatre, genealogy/ancestry, bunco, bingo and playing slots at the casino. She loved her Ford Mustang and was affectionately called “Mustang Sally”. As she grew older, she enjoyed spending more time with her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ola Lessie Mills Channell Reinhart; her father, Dewey Woodman Channell; her stepfather, George Edward Reinhart, and her beloved husband, Henry Bernard “Hank” Burdick. She is survived by her daughters, Michele Rene Dickens and husband, Michael Dickens, and Melissa Lee Holbrook and husband, Mark Holbrook along with her grandchildren, Micah, Matthew and Mason Dickens and Luke and Kinsey Holbrook and her sister, Georgia Lee Clancy Riggs along with many nieces and nephews.
