Robert Lee Fisher, a devoted father and cherished grandfather, went to be with the Lord on August 11, 2023. Bob passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with a prolonged illness.
Bob was born in North Little Rock, AK in 1929. He graduated from Columbia Military School and Vanderbilt University. Bob served as a military police officer in the Army, stationed in Texas. It was in Texas that he met and married the love of his life, Belva B Fisher, and embraced the state as his second home. Bob had a long career as an investment advisor and stockbroker in Houston, TX.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman. He taught many friends and family members skills for both hunting and fishing. He was a proud member of various organizations including the Safari Club of Houston, Ducks Unlimited, Coastal Conservation Association, and the Optimist Club of Spring Branch. While nature was his sanctuary, he also held a deep appreciation for the arts. Bob and Belva were active members of the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, The Houston Ballet, and The Houston Symphony.
His wit and humor were a source of joy for all who knew him. Even in the face of adversity, he maintained a stoic demeanor, always considerate of the concerns of those caring for him. Bob's ability to uplift others, coupled with his intelligence and penchant for reading, made him a beloved presence among his circle of friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Odie and Oma Fisher, his cherished wife, Belva Fisher, his eldest daughter, Robin Brown, his son Timothy Fisher, and his brother, Dr. William Fisher.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Molly Benard, and her husband, Charles Benard. He leaves behind his granddaughters, Katheryn Benard and Ashley Brown, who brought boundless happiness to his life.
Robert Lee Fisher's legacy will endure in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know and love him. His acts of kindness, his infectious laughter, and his unwavering support left an indelible mark on many lives.
Services will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079, on Monday, August 21st at 9:00 am.
