Tiny little baby - so pretty and small - grew day by day, so perfect and tall. God’s
grace and mercy blazed the trail for your childhood - everything you did turned out
very good. Mmmm ... feel the breeze everywhere, our darling daughter, you are a
breath of fresh air.
Lorkeshia D'mia Davis, "Honey" as she is affectionately called by her parents and all
who are blessed to know her, was born September 18, 1977 in Houston, Texas to
Lorenzo James Davis, Jr. and Gwendolyn Joyce Gaines Davis. This beautiful
intelligent baby girl was definitely their "breath of fresh air".
From birth until the age of two, Honey was energetic, happy, inquisitive, and highly
motivated. She spread joy wherever she went. Although an illness, at the age of 2
years and 3 months, left Honey unable to walk or talk, she was still a joy to be with.
Her joy and happiness were contagious, as she expressed it through laughter and
sounds.
The look in her eyes and the feel of her fingers caressing your face conveyed the deep
love she felt for you. She had a unique way of expressing her needs. Her response by
facial expressions and other means let you know that she understood what you said
and meant. She was indeed an extra ordinary young lady; and as stated before, a
"breath of fresh air."
Honey was truly a child of God. She accepted Christ at an early age. She is a member
of St. Peters United Methodist Church in Katy, Texas. She is under the pastoral
leadership of Dr. Pat Sparks. Through her charismatic persona, one could see that she
had developed her own personal relationship with God.
Honey's hands and mind were never idle. She was educated in the Katy Independent
School District where she followed a rigorous academic schedule. She attended
Memorial Parkway Elementary, Memorial Parkway Jr. High, and graduated from
James E. Taylor High School. While in school, Honey received several perfect
attendance awards and other accolades of recognition; went on field trips; attended her
Senior prom; and accepted her diploma in May of 2000, fully clad in her cap and
gown.
After high school graduation, Honey enrolled at the All About U Day Care Center
where she engaged in daily life skills. Her life adventures included car trips to
Liberty, Texas and other places. She also enjoyed trips to California by plane.
. After a busy day, Honey loved to relax by watching television and listening to music.
She enjoyed the company of parents, other family members, and friends. The life she
lived truly speaks for her.
Honey was preceded in death by her grandmother· Bernadine Mosley Copeland; three
aunts – Cherry James, Addie Davis and Jacqueline Gaines; two uncles - Glen Ray
Bush and Sampson Gaines; one great aunt - Geraldine Mosley Wyatt; two great uncles
- Carl Mosley, Jr. and Hyram Mosley.
On May 29, 2020, Lorkeshia D'mia "Honey" Davis gained her wings, left her earthly
home, and entered her Heavenly home where she was greeted with, "Well done, good
and faithful servant, you have been faithful over a few things, J will make you ruler
over many things. Enter into the joy of the Lord." (Matthew 25:23)
