Karen Ann Quinn

Karen Ann Quinn will be remembered most for being a person of kindness, diligence, integrity and faith. She was a natural leader, an excellent friend, and known for treating others with kindness and respect.

Karen was born November 4th, 1944, in Salem, Ohio. She grew up in nearby town of Columbiana where she lived with her parents Frederick and Betty Jones and her younger brother Darryl. Even from an early age she recognized the importance of community involvement, often leading clubs and activities. In high school, Karen was a majorette and enjoyed playing basketball. In her college years, she sang in the college chorale and enjoyed traveling for performances. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology from Ambassador College in 1966 and always valued the friendships she made in college, many of whom lasted throughout her life.

It was during her college years that she met future husband. On August 12, 1966 Karen exchanged wedding vows with Terry Quinn at a summer camp in Orr, Minnesota, where she was a counselor. One year later, Karen was blessed with a daughter, Susan. The family moved to the Houston area in 1982, where she quickly became a fixture in the community. In recent years, Karen and Terry were often seen walking their beloved border collie Charlie along the bayou behind their house in Katy, Texas.

Karen loved travel and was a successful businesswoman. She founded Quinn Travel Services in 1990, and managed it for nearly thirty years, receiving numerous awards and serving as local chapter President of PTANA, a travel organization. She always told her clients to travel while they could, because you never know what the future holds. For their fiftieth wedding anniversary, Karen and Terry were accompanied by their daughter Susan, Susan's husband Greg, and Karen's grandchildren Brandon and Natalie, on the trip of a lifetime - a Viking River Cruise in Europe.

Karen was ordained as an Elder in the Grace Communion International denomination and served in ordained ministry in the Houston area for several years, giving sermons and leading bible studies. She chaired the local church Advisory Council for more than fifteen years. Her faith was one of her defining features. She loved God and put Him first in her life.

Karen passed away on August 21, 2018 at home. She fought a brave battle against cancer during the last two years of her life. Karen is survived by her husband Terry, her daughter Susan, Susan's husband Greg, her grandchildren Natalie and Brandon, and her brother Darryl and his family. It was Karen's desire to be laid to rest in the Quinn family plot in Leesport, Pennsylvania. She will be greatly missed.
