October 17, 1950 – March 18, 2025
Allen Fanshier, 74, of Victoria, Texas, passed away on March 18, 2025. Born on October 17, 1950, in Houston, he lived life on his own terms, with a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, independence, and the beauty of well-made things.
A lifelong sports car enthusiast, Allen had a passion for speed, design, and the thrill of the open road. He also had a deep admiration for fine firearms, collecting them not for their use but for their craftsmanship and history. By trade, he worked as a machinist and salesman, and in his free time, he found satisfaction in woodworking, building furniture with his own hands. He also loved fishing and had a deep fondness for animals, especially the German Shepherds and cats that were part of his home throughout the years.
Allen was a proud and determined man, fiercely independent even in his final days. Described by doctors and nurses as having the spirit of a rural farmer—stubborn and self-sufficient—he made it clear that he would not surrender easily. As he faced his last challenges, he firmly stated, “They just want to get their hands in me. But I have a plan to resist, resist, resist.”
He is survived by his daughters, Saundra Mouton and her husband, Brett Mouton, and their children, Brooks and Mia Mouton; Lauren Hawes and her husband, Bret Hawes, and their children, Penny and Greyson Hawes; and his youngest daughter, Sarah Fanshier. He is also survived by his sister, Andrea Fanshier. His legacy lives on in the passions he pursued and the values he instilled in those who knew him.
