Wilma (“Willy”) Lee Murray died Tuesday, August 12, 2014 surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Willy was born and raised in Princeton, Missouri. In 1937, she married Joseph Eugene (“Gene”) Murray. Willy and Gene moved to Kansas City, Missouri shortly after their marriage and eventually resided in Johnson County, Kansas, where they raised their family.
Willy was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her passion was truly spending time with her family. Willy also enjoyed baking and shopping. She could never resist a good piece of pizza or fudge.
Willy was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Murray, as well as her parents and her eleven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her four children: James Murray (Joyce), Michael Murray (Marcia), Kathleen Murray Lanter (David), and Patrick Murray (Leslie).
She is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Rebecca Lanter Godfrey (Scott), Shawn Lanter (Tanya), Kelly Murray Collinsworth, Megan Murray Schroer (Gary), Jeff Murray (Kay), Katie Murray, Joseph Bobbitt and James Bobbitt.
Her surviving great-grandchildren include Samuel Lanter, Abby Lanter, Gabriel Lanter, Jacob Collinsworth, Alex Collinsworth, Hudson Schroer, Sullivan Schroer, Eliza Godfrey and Camrynn Murray.
Willy was a guardian angel to her family and will continue to be so for future generations.
