Dear Mary, What a sad surprise today and I don't know what made me look on line--seldom done. I really wanted to reach you and Marty as I am very ill myself--and you won't believe it.  I have stage 4 lung cancer and moved to FL to be with my children last november. I had just been diagnosed with ALS--that hideous disease.
You and Bill were always so wonderful to me.  Since I am so sick, I wanted to tell you how much you meant to me, both you and Bill.  I hope your pain has lessened and the deep hole in your heart is being repaired. If you would care to email, it would be wonderful.  artsmart65@verizon.net

During the years of working with Bill he had a big impact on me. He was a good man, bright, sincere and caring. I have many memories, but it is Bill's humanity, not the work which stays with me.  I remember his laugh and how many business dinners included someone triggering him to share his latest jokes.  It still makes me smile to think of how you took care of all the practical things behind the scenes for him.  You were the light of his life. He will be missed.

Rest is peace, my childhood friend.  What fun we had hanging around the corners of 25th and Cherry, 26th and Gillham, playing at the park, teasing the nuns at Our Lady of Sorrows, and countless pranks and just clean fun we neighborhood friends had every day.  I have lived in Phoenix for over 30 years so was not able to really keep up with all of the comings and goings of the old gang.  I will never forget you, Billy, you were one of the good guys.  Glad your pain is over and am sure you are sitting in heaven alongside the best of them.  Again, sweet heavenly dreams.

Peggy and I send our condolences to the Gunter family. I knew Bill from our time at United Telecom and the early days of Sprint. Although we did not work together, we had good times in our many conversations. Bill was a gentleman and in my mind, he was one of United Telecom's  top executives---tops in personal and business integrity. May his soul rest in peace.

Mary and family, I was so sad to hear about Bills passing. We grew up together and though its been years since we had seen each other  Billy, Dave and Riley were my good neighborhood friends. I still have fond memories of all the good times we had together. Dave and Riley and family my prayers are with you in your loss.

Mary and your family, I am so sorry for your loss....Bill was still so young.  He was my first boss at United Telecom, then we all moved on to Sprint.  I will always remember him for his fairness and his gentle laugh....he was such a good man.

Very sad to hear the news about Bill.  I will always remember my years of working for Bill and the honesty and integrity he brought to the job.  He will be greatly missed by all.  Janet and I send our condolences.

My uncle Bill was one of the most selfless person that I have ever met. He was such a caring and generous person who always worried about the ones he love and their well being.
He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it and then help you figure out  why you were "shirtless" to begin with, and what you needed to do to make sure you never had to be "shirtless" again. 
He had a laugh all of his own. When you heard it, you knew it was him without a doubt.
When I had my first son Tyler, 17 years ago,  he was very premature, weighing only 2 pounds and very sick, spending most of the first few years of his life in the hospital. As much as I knew my uncle Bill hated hospitals, he would still come to see him. How caring and concerned he always was. The two of them grew quite a special bond.  
I think what I loved the most about my Uncle Bill was that you knew always how much his family genuinely meant to him and how much he cared and loved each of us dearly.
You will be so missed Uncle Bill, but I know now I have the best guardian angel watching out for me. Rest now, for you are at peace. Tell we meet again.

I am sorry to hear of your dad's illness and passing. I can still hear the laughter in Shannon Valley. Our parents were such great sports when we would run around like rug rats having musicals in the basements, playing instruments and kick the can. They had patience and kindness even on the roughest days (ie learning to play cello). Some of these gifts were passes down to his kids early on. My heart goes out to the entire family. Please know that I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

I was very sad to hear about Bill, especially since I wasn't aware of his illness.  I lost contact with him after my retirement.  I first met Bill when he joined United's audit staff of which I was a member.  As young guys, we had some very enjoyable audit trips together.  I worked with Bill at United/Sprint over the years, and reported to him for some of those years.  He was a self made man, very smart and a dedicated worker.  I wish we could both go back to our twenties and do it all over again, but we know it doesn't work that way.  I'm grateful for having the pleasure of knowing Bill for all those years.  Our prayers and thoughts go out to Mary and the family.

I am deeply sadddened by the loss of Bill.  A truly wonderful man who will be missed.  It was a privilege to have known Bill and I will always have good memories of him. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Gunter family was a big part of my early youth......although I have not seen Bill for many years he and several of his brothers were a major part or my neighborhood memories.........we will all miss him ........may his soul rest in peace....

My thoughts are with all the Gunter family. I knew Bill at PCS and Sprint. He was a great man and was so well thought of. James was an intern for me in PR one summer at the 8140 building. I thought James was a wonderful young man with a great sense of humor. You were all very fortunate to have him in your family.

I am so sorry for your loss.  While I never worked for Bill during his time at Sprint, we connected during his retirement years at the Sprint Fitness Center.  We seemed to always be on the same workout schedule and I really enjoyed our conversations where he typically didn't let a day go by to ask what was up with the Sprint stock.  I'm grateful to have had the chance to visit with him earlier this year at home.  He will certainly be missed.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss.  I loved working for Bill, and he was always there to support me and encourage me.  He and Mary were invaluable to me when I was diagnosed with cancer.  I have so many wonderful memories of working with Bill.  He constantly made me smile, but also always had very high expectations!  I remember he knew I was pregnant before I even told him!  Once Bill and Mary came over to dinner and we had steaks ready to grill and there was a birds nest with eggs in the grill and they encouraged us to just fry them in a pan so we could "respect life".  

He handled this disease with grace and dignity, always wanting to help others.  He was an amazing man and will be missed very much.

I want to offer my condolences to Bill's family.  Bill hired me to United Telecom 30 years ago and I credit him with the success I continue to have here at Sprint.  In his professional life, Bill modeled the word integrity.  I feel honored to have known and worked for him.  He will be missed.
