Will was born on June 9, 1986 in Overland Park, Kansas and lived his remaining years in Grandview, Cole Camp, and Kansas City Missouri. A free spirit from birth, Will never passed up a chance to travel and loved to visit family and friends in Baltimore, Arizona, California, Colorado, and Hawaii.
A lifelong passion for music and art was a driving force in Will’s life. He attended countless concerts and built an ever-growing community of friends who shared his love for live music. Will displayed artistic talent from an early age, but often listened to his own inner critic rather than the praise and feedback of others. His creativity was also evidenced in a multitude of money-making ventures and business ideas.
Will’s most lasting legacy is as a loving father, son, brother and friend who would give anyone the shirt off his back. Fiercely loyal, Will was described as a “positive light” and “the truest friend” others had ever known. William’s temperament, rebellion, and mischievousness meant he was not well suited for a life in academia or the corporate world; however, they provided a colorful backdrop for many exciting adventures, near misses, and assorted shenanigans. Will was a kind soul, had a loving heart, and was a believer in Jesus Christ.
Will was preceded in death by his father, Jeffrey Gerhardt and his paternal grandfather, William Gerhardt. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Kelly & Pat Eggimann, his sons, Joseph and Benjamin Gerhardt, his sisters, Amanda (Joshua) Barclay & Sabrina (Joe Ward) Gerhardt, his maternal grandparents Richard (Connie) and Margaret (Ron Garcia) Hawkins, his paternal grandmother Alice (Dave) Will, and many cousins, aunts, niece and nephews.
A Visitation for William will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131, followed by a Funeral Service from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
