Until I started this project, I was fully unaware of my family’s service to our country. My grandfather was deferred from WWI because he worked for J.L. Kraft in a commodity industry. While I have always been proud of these men, my admiration is now so much deeper. Except for Robert and Gerald, my regret is that I did not have the opportunity to talk to these brave warriors before they died about their service. I am aware that the decision not to talk about their experiences is deeply personal. To my knowledge, their service was not at our family gatherings.
