Wayne Harman Spencer, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather & uncle, born in Springwater, NY June 22, 1939, parents were Harman Wheeler Spencer & Audra Joy Spencer, entered into eternity March 1, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral service will be at Woods Chapel United Methodist Church, 4725 NE Lakewood Way, Lee’s Summit, MO 64064. Monday, March 13. Visitation 11:00am to 1:00pm, Funeral Service 1:00pm. A Royal Order of Jesters Court 54 Rose Ceremony will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ararat Shriners Hospital Transportation, 5100 Ararat Drive, Kansas City, MO 64129.
Wayne is survived by wife, Beverly Fowler Spencer, and children, Greg Spencer (Joy), Kelley Lakey (JD), Mark Kitchen (Stephanie), Shawna Robertson (George), John Laughlin (Cheryl), Pam Brown (Devan), Scott Hale (Angela), 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A special nephew, Doug Hammond (Gracie), two dear brothers, Kenneth Spencer (Teresa) & John Spencer (Sally), many nephews, nieces & friends.
Wayne proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, tours in Germany & Vietnam. After graduating with a Masters Degree from UMKC, he was employed by AT&T for 22 years, ending his employment careers with SCI Dignity Funeral Homes, part-time.
Wayne dedicated his life to God, Family, Country and spent 40 years as a proud Shriner helping children to receive wonderful care at Shriners Hospitals for Children, at no cost to their families. Wayne loved music, was a bass guitarist & drummer. He loved big get-togethers with family & friends, always making sure each felt his love.
Wayne was Potentate of Ararat Temple in 2013, belonged to the Scottish Rite Valley of Kansas City, Royal Order of Jesters Court 54, Order of Quetzalcoatl, The Sandbuggies, Richmond Shrine Club. He was Chairman for Ararat Hospital Committee several years & Chairman of the Burn Team. He took pride in being a former drummer, later being Captain of Ararat Patrol.
Words can’t express how much he will be missed, but his legacy lives on in all the hearts he touched. Thank you, God, for Wayne Harman Spencer.
